Mitchell Barnett
Was born in New York City. He grew up in the Bronx, Yonkers and Bayside, Queens. He attended local schools including P.S. 70 in the Bronx, P.S. 32 in Yonkers, and Bayside High School , where he was a scholar athlete. Upon graduation, he attended St. John's University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government in January of 1986. He was also a three year athlete and honor roll student. He graduated from the St. John's University School of Law in May of 1989. He is admitted to the bar of the State of New York and the Federal District Court for the Southern District of New York. He is a member of the Nassau County Bar Association and maintains his office in Garden City, New York .
He practices in the following areas of the law: Criminal, Real Estate, Personal Injury, and other civil litigation.
Mr. Barnett has been engaged in his own professional practice since 1999. For more than 7 years, he was an Assistant District Attorney in the Nassau County District Attorney's office. He was also an associate for Leahy & Johnson, a Wall Street firm, practicing insurance defense litigation. Just prior to opening his own practice, Mr. Barnett worked for a sole practitioner in Long Beach, New York .
